The people behind valour games

Hi I’m Callum. I got into wargaming in 2006 with the Mines of Moria MESBG set. Since then I’ve expanded my hobby into Age of Sigmar, 40K and Magic: The Gathering and have represented Scotland twice in Age of Sigmar. I moved to Edinburgh in 2024 and was disappointed to find no central hub for the wargaming community. So the idea of Valour Games was born. You can find me front-of-house, meeting the community and making sure everyone feels welcome.

Hi, I’m Morag. I got into wargaming in the 1980s, playing The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, HeroQuest, reading White Dwarf and buying metal minis. It’s been a long time since I played, but I still love the hobby and being part of the wargaming community. You’ll find me in the background of Valour Games, taking care of all the admin stuff and keeping the tech running while Callum is out front.

We are a nephew and aunt team with a shared passion for the hobby and a shared dream of creating a home for the wargaming community in Edinburgh.

how valour games began

Over Christmas dinner in 2024, Callum shared his dream of running a wargaming and tournament space in Edinburgh. Morag told him about The King’s Trust’s support for young people to help them start their own businesses and so it began.

Throughout 2025, Callum worked on his business plan with support from The King’s Trust. The business plan was sound, but there was one major stumbling block. Finding a space in Edinburgh that was big enough for wargaming at a rent a social enterprise like Valour Games could afford.

After months of fruitless searching, by early 2026 Valour Games seemed like an impossible dream. To keep the idea alive, Morag reached out to people she knew in Edinburgh to ask if they had any ideas and it turned out that one of them did.

a partnership with myEdinburgh

We reached out to Challenges Worldwide, an Edinburgh-based charity. Through our early discussions with them, we were introduced to The Bakery space, a former commercial bakery in the heart of Edinburgh, renovated in 2024 and transformed into a multipurpose community space as part of MyEdinburgh.

The Bakery is an ideal setting for wargaming, and after meeting with the MyEdinburgh team, we were delighted by their support for Valour Games and what we are trying to achieve.

In spring 2026, we signed a partnership agreement with MyEdinburgh, and Valour Games became a reality. Without their support, Valour Games would still be a dream, and the wargaming community would still be without a permanent hub in Edinburgh.

You can read more about our pop-up format and how we use The Bakery, and please visit MyEdinburgh’s website to learn more about the brilliant work they do.
